We supply and install a range of mulch products suited to Midland landscapes—cedar mulch for its natural pest resistance, hardwood bark mulch for a classic look, and dark composted mulch for maximum soil enrichment. Every mulch application is installed at the proper depth to suppress weeds, retain soil moisture through dry Georgian Bay summers, and protect roots during winter freeze cycles.
Simcoe County's clay-heavy soils benefit significantly from quality mulch. As organic mulch breaks down, it adds humus to the soil, improving drainage and nutrient availability for your garden plantings. We select mulch products that complement your soil type and garden needs, creating healthier growing conditions for trees, shrubs, and perennials year after year.
Properly mulched beds dramatically reduce the time you spend weeding and watering. A 3-inch layer of quality mulch suppresses weed germination, retains soil moisture during Midland's summer heat, and moderates soil temperature swings through Ontario's dramatic seasonal changes. Combined with native plantings, mulch creates garden beds that practically take care of themselves.
Nothing refreshes a Midland landscape faster than fresh mulch. Crisp, clean mulch beds make front yards, entrance gardens, and backyard plantings look polished and well-maintained. We edge beds cleanly, remove old mulch when needed, and apply fresh product evenly for a professional finish that transforms your property's appearance in a single day.

Mulch is one of the most important and often overlooked elements of a healthy landscape. At Forty Five Scapes, we provide professional mulch delivery and installation for residential and commercial properties across Midland, Penetanguishene, Tiny Township, Tay Township, and the surrounding Georgian Bay area. Whether you need a seasonal mulch refresh or are starting new garden beds from scratch, our team handles the job efficiently and thoroughly.
Mulch serves several critical functions in Midland landscapes. It retains soil moisture during summer dry spells, reducing watering frequency. It insulates root zones against Simcoe County's harsh winter freezing. It suppresses weeds that compete with your garden plantings for water and nutrients. And as it decomposes, it enriches our local clay soils with organic matter that improves structure and drainage.
We offer several mulch options to suit different landscape needs. Cedar mulch provides natural insect resistance and a pleasant scent, making it popular for garden beds near patios and outdoor living areas. Hardwood bark mulch delivers a traditional look with excellent moisture retention. Dark composted mulch enriches soil most quickly. Pine bark nuggets work well on slopes where lighter mulches might wash away. We recommend the right product for each area of your property.
We install mulch at the correct depth—2 to 3 inches for most applications—ensuring it is thick enough to suppress weeds without smothering plant roots. We keep mulch pulled back from tree trunks and plant stems to prevent moisture-related disease. Beds are edged cleanly against hardscape surfaces, lawns, and walkways for a sharp, professional finish.
Many Midland homeowners schedule annual mulch refreshes in spring to set their gardens up for the growing season. We can also apply fall mulch to insulate beds before winter. For commercial properties and HOAs, we offer scheduled mulch programs that keep common areas looking maintained year-round without the property manager needing to coordinate the work.
