Where snow goes matters more than how fast it is moved. The most expensive parking lot failures happen during a thaw, not a storm. Snow piled over a catch basin blocks it exactly when meltwater needs it, and the water crosses the lot instead, refreezing overnight into sheet ice across your traffic areas. Parking lots are the most demanding surfaces in commercial snow work. They are large, they are used at fixed times, they carry pedestrian and vehicle traffic across the same ground, and they have nowhere to put the snow except onto themselves. In the Midland and Penetanguishene area those pressures are amplified by lake-effect squalls off Georgian Bay, which can bury a lot overnight while a site half an hour inland sees almost nothing. Planning a lot properly for winter is the difference between a surface that works all season and one that shrinks, floods and ices over from January onward.

When a site reaches that point the answer is snow hauling and off-site removal, planned into the contract in advance rather than arranged in a panic during a February storm when every truck in the county is already committed.
Large, flat, exposed surfaces refreeze fast. Meltwater runs across a lot during the day and turns to sheet ice after dark, often on a clear day with no new snow, which is when people are least expecting it and most likely to fall. Effective ice management on a lot means treating drainage paths and low spots as well as the obvious traffic areas, applying material before ice bonds rather than after, and keeping a dated record of every application. That record is what defends a slip-and-fall claim brought long after the day in question.
A parking lot is not only asphalt. It contains curbs, islands, walkways, bed edges, lighting bases and drainage structures, all of which disappear under snow and all of which are expensive to repair. Damage prevented in January costs nothing; damage discovered in April is a repair bill and an argument about who caused it.
What a lot looks like in April is part of the winter contract, not a separate problem. Accumulated sand and salt residue, gravel dragged onto turf and beds, rutted edges and damaged sod all need addressing before the property looks presentable again.
